Texture and Modeling Artist – Full time remote contract

We are seeking a mid level Texture and Modeling Artist.

Emphasis: modeling and texturing of diverse realistic humans, hair, and clothing for realtime applications.


About Meshcapade

Meshcapade is a startup creating realistic human avatars for use in research, apparel, biomechanics, virtual reality and film. Using machine learning and computer vision, we model the nuances of human shape and movement. We build automation from 3D & 4D scans, RGB-D sequences, Mocap, IMU and image data. Our methods derive from SOTA research and we bring realistic human models to life in everyday environments. Our core product, digidoppel, is a consumer-facing platform for the creation, modification, and delivery of our avatars and related assets.

You will work closely with company leadership to help build the core products of a fresh startup, with the opportunity to create high volumes of content which is directly and widely available to the public. We are a team of passionate creators from a variety of backgrounds, seeking to change how people generate, think about, and make use of digital avatars. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with industry standards. Our offices are based in Tübingen, Germany.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have extensive experience texturing and modeling realistic humans, their hair, and clothing for use in realtime applications. This candidate will have the technical, artistic, and communication skills necessary to produce not only beautiful work, but work adhering to the technical requirements set forth.

  • Author a wide variety of modular human skin and facial feature texture layers.

  • Author a wide variety of modular clothing models and texture layers.

  • Author a wide variety of modular hair pieces compatible with realtime applications.

  • Work with and extend our existing library of the above.

  • Gather reference, assemble/adhere to art packs, and construct wardrobes and ensembles.


Requirements

  • 3+ years professional experience as texture artist or modeler.

  • Portfolio or reel demonstrating proficiency in texturing of realistic humans, hair, and clothing.

  • Possession of a workstation adequate for production of these assets.

  • Technical ability to install, configure and troubleshoot your own workstation and software.

  • Good command of English and strong, proactive communication skills.

  • Ability and willingness to follow specific technical and artistic instruction.

  • Software experience: Maya or similar, Mari/Substance or similar, Photoshop, Marvelous Designer or similar.

  • 3 verifiable professional references.


Bonus Skills

  • Experience working remotely in a team.

  • Scripting or programming experience in python.

  • Shader writing experience.

  • Rigging experience.

  • Technical modeling.
